Ensto designs and offers electrification solutions that make smart electricity networks, buildings, and traffic safer and enhances their functionality, reliability, and efficiency. For the heating of homes, Ensto offers consumers easy, efficient, and ecological solutions that enable consumers to achieve significant savings in heating costs. Ensto’s solutions comply with the Ecodesign regulation. The requirements of the Ecodesign regulation aim to enhance energy-efficiency by integrating environmental aspects and lifecycle thinking with the product design phase of the products.
The smart thermostat enables heating consumption to be reduced by up to 40%
The Ensto Heat Control application enables managing electric heaters and floor heating thermostats that are equipped with Ensto’s Bluetooth technology. Smart heating control adds a new kind of comfort and flexibility to living. The application enables the creation of a weekly or longer programme for a chosen period and monitoring their impact on the energy consumption of the home. The application makes the heating management of homes easy, efficient, and reliable.
Ensto’s smart thermostat has many adjustment options – and the thermostat can even take care of the adjustment independently. The thermostat can be optimised based on the conditions prevailing at the time the heating is turned on or through calendar control by using Ensto’s Heat Control application (Android and iOS).
The main benefits of the smart thermostat to the user include:
- Enables heating consumption to be reduced by up to 40%
- Easy installation and use
Huld implemented the software of the smart thermostat
The “intelligence” of the smart thermostat was implemented by Huld on a Bluetooth circuit that the user controls through a mobile application. Ensto searched for an experienced partner with expertise in embedded systems and knowledge of short-range radio technology – especially Bluetooth.
Embedded systems are a central part of Huld’s software expertise, which served as a natural basis for the cooperation. Adept technical solutions were found for the challenging implementation requirements specified in the project, and continuous integration and testing enabled achieving a high-quality software.
Project Manager Jukka Levänen from Ensto, who was responsible for the project, says that Huld became a fixed part of Ensto’s project and cooperation was efficient.
In particular, I value good communication and openness of cooperation – difficult matters were not avoided, but were actively brought up in discussions and worked on together in order to find solutions for them, says Levänen.
