Huld implemented a customised digital ERP system for KATI that enables a quicker data transfer from the drilling machines to the administration and further on to KATI’s customers. The ERP system brings various benefits to KATI that specialises in ore exploration and rock construction. Currently, information related to drilling sites reach the company’s management, administration, and customers many times quicker than before.

“We are very pleased to have the system as part of KATI’s everyday work, as the data it produces benefits both our customers and us. In addition to the excellent result, we have been satisfied with the cooperation with Huld”, says Business Manager Matti Rautakoski from Oy Kati Ab.

KATI’s drillers now carry tablet computers with them and feed work data into them directly instead of filling in paper printouts at drilling sites. “Our field workers have been happy with the usability of the software. Therefore, the project managed to also excel in the aspect that was doubted the most beforehand”, says Rautakoski.

Enhanced efficiency and profitability

The data saved by the drillers is transferred from the tablet computer to the server, and the saved data is used in many ways in KATI’s operations. With the system, KATI can monitor e.g. the operational parametres of the drilling machines, such as the rotating speed and water consumption. The history data of the sites can also be measured more accurately than before, which makes it easier to calculate tenders and monitor profitability.

One of the main benefits from KATI’s point of view is that the system enables us to better monitor the progress and profitability of projects. The work management is better aware of the progress of the worksite, which has also enhanced the efficiency of working.

Views also for customers

The system was implemented to contain two different access levels, one for KATI and one for its customers. KATI’s customers see, in their own view, their own worksites and drilling sites and can search for related data, reports, and route information. In addition, the customers can use the system to communicate with KATI and mark the location of e.g. new holes to be drilled.

“Our customers can view reports on their computers whenever they want and will also be able to see the real-time location of equipment. The system has made our operations more transparent to our customers”, says Rautakoski.
