Huld supports Arctic satellite measurements with ESA and the Finnish Meteorological Institute
The European Space Agency (ESA) and the Finnish Meteorological Institute have signed an agreement to expand the Arctic Satellite Calibration and Validation Centre in Sodankylä. Huld participates in the definition and implementation of data processing with the Finnish Meteorological Institute.
The project aims to improve the reliability of satellite measurements in the Arctic region. The goal is to develop more accurate observation systems for monitoring carbon dioxide and methane sources and sinks.
Huld is involved in the significant collaboration in which Finnish technology companies bring their expertise to the development and testing of instruments for Arctic conditions. Huld’s role focuses especially on the definition, development and implementation of satellite data processing.
“The Calibration and Validation Centre provides a unique test environment for technology and space companies. We are proud to be involved in creating solutions that support climate change monitoring and sustainable development.” –Matti Anttila, Director, Defence & Space, Huld.
The partners in this collaboration include also Business Finland, CGI, Harp Technologies Ltd., Kelluu, Vaisala and Kuva Space.
